A Guy Dropped Off His Obituary At A Local Newspaper, Then Hanged Himself From A Bridge

If you're desperately searching for that last bit of motivation to finally kick cigarettes, there's someone you should hear about: He's 64-year-old Allan Peters, from Placerville, California (--about 45 miles east of Sacramento).

--On Tuesday night, Allan dropped off an envelope at his local newspaper, the "Mountain Democrat". It contained his own obituary.

--Then he went and HANGED HIMSELF from a bridge. (!!!)

--In a separate suicide note, Allan explained, quote, "Yes, I have hanged myself (At least I hope I did) . . . I have had emphysema for the past few years, and lately it has been really hard to struggle to even catch a breath.

--"I really cannot convey to you how very hard it was even to try to take a very deep breath . . . My life has been drastically altered in the past few years, and I believe in euthanasia."

--The envelope also included information about contacting Allan's relatives, a photo, and a money order for $90 . . . the exact amount to run an obituary with a picture.

--Newspaper officials say they didn't open Allan's letter until Wednesday morning, quote, "about a half-hour too late." His obituary is in today's edition of the "Mountain Democrat".
