Civil Rights leaders are demanding that Marilyn Davenport resign as a member of the Republican party of Orange County. They made their request after she sent an email containing a photo depicting Barack Obama as a chimpanzee. The caption accompanying the photo read: "Now you know why no birth certificate." Daveport says, “Everybody who knows me knows that I am not a racist. It was a joke. I have friends who are black. I simply found it amusing regarding the character of Obama and all the questions surrounding his origin of birth." The President is scheduled to make a campaign stop in Southern California this week.
