MORNING COURT: Suspended For Acne Medication



Hayley Russell was suspended from Rachel Carson Middle School in Fairfax County, Virginia for bringing acne medication to school. The 13 year-old was having flare-ups so she placed the medication on the top shelf of her locker so she could retrieve it at lunch. She forgot about the pills until an administrator saw them and confronted her. Russell violated school rules that say prescription medication must be signed in at the school clinic by a parent. The Fairfax school district originally recommended expulsion because Russell possessed a controlled substance
