Over the weekend, 61-year-old Brant Bater of Twin Peaks, California was arrested for SHOOTING HIS WIFE. She died on the scene.
When the police arrested him, Bater gave his excuse: He wasn't trying to kill his wife, he was aiming for the FAMILY DOG and missed.
For now, he's being held on suspicion of murder . . . detectives are investigating his story.
